Male', MALDIVES - VB sports takes the revenge of their shocking defeat against Maziya in round one of ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League, by furnishing them to a 3-0 defeat today in their opening game of round two. Ibrahim Fazeel scored all three goals to increase his goal tally to 13 in the season. He is also leading the top scorers’ chart of Dhivehi League with 11 goals.

Maziya’s Srilankan duo failed to show their level in today’s game and VB’s captain Ali Umar also missed several opportunities in the first half and was substituted during the half time.

Maziya keeper Ifrah, who took an injury early in the game found it difficult to overcome it and was substituted midway through the first half. But during his time on the field, he saved some of the goal scoring opportunities created by VB sports.

VB defenders were forced to block a shot from Ishar in the 30th minute of the game.

In the 44th minute, Maziya players stretched to knock away a shot from Mohamed Hussain and in the extra period of first half, Ismail Mohamed’s shot outside the penalty area box missed the target practically.

Only two minutes into second half, Ibrahim Fazeel scored the first goal of the day. Ali Umar’s substitute Adam Fazeeh executed a powerful shot which Fazeel had a slight touch to put the ball past off positioned keeper.

In the 63rd minute, Fazeel added his second from a well timed pass from man of the match, Ismail Mohamed. Ismail did all the hard working and passed the ball to Fazeel who sent the ball into the empty goal.

Four minutes later keeper Muruthalah denied a good scoring chance created by Mohamed Hussain. His chip shot was on target to Eugene, but Muruthalah knocked the ball away from Eugene.

In the extra period of the game Fazeel completed his hat trick, once again Ismail Mohamed provided an excellent assist to Fazeel, who took a dive shot to hit the target.

After the match VB coach Carlos agreed the opponent is an organized team and added if they gave them enough space they would score goals. He also noted the performance of his players and added he is satisfied of that.

“This is VB’s best match” he started.

“We played a nice game, Maziya is a well organized team and if we make a mistake they play well and they would have scored goals”

“This is a very important match. I am happy with the players, they sacrificed and I am very happy about their performance”

When asked about Ali Umar’s substitution he replied: “He couldn’t play well, he missed many chances and couldn’t finish the ball”

Maziya coach Mahfooz considered today an unlucky day for them. He also highlighted some of their players couldn’t perform at their best due to injury.

When asked about replacing Chathura, who is scheduled to leave tonight, Mahfooz replied: “We can replace him but not fully”
